Ryne Sandberg Buys $1.1M Lake Bluff Home

The former Cubs second baseman recently closed a deal on a four-bedroom house on the grounds of Shore Acres Country Club.

LAKE BLUFF, IL—Looks like former Chicago Cubs All-Star second baseman Ryne Sandberg plans on staying with the team as its new "ambassador" for at least a little bit.

He and his wife, Margaret, bought a four-bedroom home in Lake Bluff for $1.1 million last week, Crain's Chicago Business reports. The Sandbergs even got a deal on the Shore Acres Circle residence, paying about $100,000 less than the asking price and 40 percent less than what the sellers paid for the house in 2005.

The home, which sits on four wooded acres of Shore Acres Country Club, features the following amenities, according to Crain's:

  • a wine cellar
  • a first-floor master suite
  • 10-foot ceilings on the first and second floors
