Scouts Take Second at Schaumburg Invite

LFHS Men's Water Polo team surges to silver against top metro teams.

The LFHS Men’s Water Polo team captured 2nd place at the prestigious Schaumburg Invitational on March 15-16. Led by first-year Head Coach Tom Galla, the Scouts parlayed strong swimming and defense to secure runner-up.

In their opening match, the Scouts tied a physical Lincoln-Way West squad 7-7. Greg Damidot scored in the final minute to square the game, while Jack Nemickas was steady in goal.

The Scouts overpowered the host Saxons in game two, 11-2. Chris Gasche minded the net, while Captain John Willford, Zach Rose, Luke Lanigan and Tristan Tazzioli tallied for the Scouts. Andrew Rhomberg and Andrew Clemmenson added key minutes from the Scout bench.

The Scouts fought off stubborn LaFayette (of St. Louis) in game three, 9-7. Ryan Devine delivered the game winner with two minutes remaining.

In the final, Top 20 Whitney Young rode stout defense and experience to prevail 12-3. Peter Landis and Damidot charted for the Scouts.

The Scouts take a 4-3-1 record into matches this week against Vernon Hills and Niles West.
