Storytelling On Stage At Gorton Center

Live storytelling comes to the John & Nancy Hughes Theater Saturday.

From Gorton Community Center: Join Gorton Community Center for another spectacular night of Storytelling with Scott Whitehair on November 3 in the John & Nancy Hughes Theater. If you’ve enjoyed the personal stories told on NPR, you’ll love the intimate experience of live, face-to-face storytelling at Gorton on Saturday evening. The event is co-produced by Scott Whitehair and Anne Purky.

“Storytelling has allowed me to bring aspects of my life that are both hilarious and poignant to the stage,” explains long-time storytelling producer Purky. “I’m involved because it became a passion of mine to bring the vibrant and compelling world of storytelling from Chicago to Lake Forest. I saw Gorton, with the beautiful John & Nancy Hughes theater, to be the perfect venue for this art form. There has never been anything like this in Lake Forest before.”

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with live music performed by Ali Jackson. There will be cash-bar concessions in the community center’s Solarium. The stories begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door. Student discounts are available with a student ID for $10. To purchase tickets or to learn more, visit gortoncenter.org.
