Stun Gun, Cash And 'A Lot' Of Marijuana Leads To Charges: Blotter
Police found about 140 grams of cannabis, a stun gun, drug paraphernalia and $1,525 in small bills during a traffic stop this week.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police and Lake County court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
ARRESTS
Erlindo O. Flota, 21, of the 1300 block of Dennis Place, Des Plaines, was arrested around 8 p.m. on April 29 in the 800 block of Ashland Lane and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater by officers investigating a report of a Toyota SUV driving into oncoming traffic. Police reported Flota admitted drinking beer before driving, and officers reported finding an open bottle of cognac on the car's floorboard. Flota produced a breath sample indicating his blood alcohol concentration was more than four times the legal limit, according to police, who also issued him citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
Jose C. Castillo-Hipolito, 40, of the 500 block of West Park Avenue, Libertyville, was arrested shortly before midnight on March 5 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop on Route 60 at Ridge Road. Officers reported he was speeding and committing lane violations before the traffic stop, and later produced a breath sample indicating his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Jordan M. Sartin, 26, of the 800 block of Greenwood Avenue, Waukegan, and Steven A. Bialas, 28, of the 3500 block of 67th Street, Kenosha, were arrested around 7 p.m. on May 11 following a traffic stop near Deerpath Road and Western Avenue. Police reported they noticed Sartin, the driver, using a cell phone and running a stop sign before pulling her over. Officers noticed a black stun gun in the car and reportedly smelled the distinctive odor of burnt cannabis. When officers asked the passenger, Bialas, how much marijuana was in the car, he told them "a lot." Police reported finding about 140 grams of individually packaged loose cannabis, more than $1,500 in small bills and drug paraphernalia. Sartin was charged with unauthorized use of a weapon and issued citations for using an electronic device while operating an motor vehicle, expired registration and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Bialas was charged with possession of between 100 grams and 500 grams of cannabis and unlawful manufacture and delivery of between 50 grams and 500 grams of cannabis. Prosecutors later filed forfeiture paperwork, asking a judge to let them keep the cash police found in the car.
Edwin L. Hardin, 50, of the 2200 block of 24th Street, North Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on May 12 following a traffic stop on Route 41 at Westleigh Road after police noticed he had no licenses plate. Prosecutors approved a charge of aggravated driving with a revoked driver's license, a felony, because Hardin's license had been revoked due to a prior DUI. He was also issued citations for no valid registration and no vehicle insurance.
