Triple Shooting Leaves 2 Dead In Zion, Police Say

Police said a 16-year-old boy was among three people shot Tuesday evening on Galilee Avenue.

ZION, IL — Two people were killed, including a 16-year-old boy, and another was critically injured in a triple shooting Tuesday in Zion, police said.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers arrived in an alley in the 2800 block of North Galilee Avenue after getting calls of a man on the ground and found the first wounded person, according to Zion police. He was rushed to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan.

While officers were at the scene, Waukegan police reported there were other injured people at Vista East. Police said they had been taken to the hospital before officers arrived.

Kanye Marshall, 16, and a Rodney Lovelace, 27, both Zion residents, died from their injuries in the shooting, according to police and the Lake County Coroner's Office.

Police said a 28-year-old Zion man remained remained in critical condition Wednesday.

Officers were called to the 2800 block of Galilee Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Zion police.

Police called in the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force for help with the investigation.

Zion police said no information about the number of shooters or guns involved would be released Wednesday.
