10 Carjackings In 10 Days On North Side

Police and aldermen are seeking any video surveillance in the areas of the carjackings.

CHICAGO — The North Side has been hit by a string of carjackings, police warned in a community alert. In each theft, the offenders targeted a victim who was either alone in their car or alone on the street, police warned in the alert.

In each incident, carjackers pulled out at least one handgun and threatened the victim, before stealing their vehicle, police said. In some incidents, the victims were pulled from their vehicles.

On Thursday at 12:30 a.m., a delivery driver was carjacked at Halsted and Dickens, police said. A few minutes later, there was a second carjacking at Halsted and Willow.
