CHICAGO, IL — Two men are in critical condition after an early Saturday shooting in Lake View near the corner of Belmont Avenue and Kenwood Avenue. A 23-year-old man was shot several times in the torso and a 36-year-old man was shot in the neck at about 3 a.m., according to Chicago Police.
The shooting took place about four blocks south of Wrigley Field, where Game 6 of the National League Championship series will be played Saturday night.
The men, wounded in what appears to be a gang-related shooting, were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The men were standing near a parked car when someone walked up and fired on them. Belmont from Kenmore to Sheffield Avenue was blocked off by crime-scene tape as police gathered evidence Saturday morning. Several spent shell casings were seen on the ground.
