2014 Shared Sidewalk Program Now Open
The popular program allows residents to split the cost of sidewalk repairs with the city.

Alderman Tom Tunney's office has opened applications for the 2014 Shared Sidewalk Program.
The popular program, according to a release by Tunney's office, allows residents to share in the coast of sidewalk repair with the city. All property owners pay the same square-foot cost for a new sidewalk — approximately $3 per square foot — which is well below what private contractors charge for similar services.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those interesting in participating should contact Sougata Deb at (773) 525-6034 or at Sougata.Deb@cityofchicago.org.
"Sustaining sound infrastructure is vital to a community's health," the release from Tunney's office states. "By participating in the Shared Cost Program and replacing your sidewalk, you will increase your property appeal and make a significant contribution towards improving our neighborhood."
