Alderman Tom Tunney (44th)'s office recently released a community alert about numerous catalytic converter thefts in the area.
According to the alert, the thefts are taking place during the evening and overnight hours. Jeeps, Honda Elements and Ford Escapes are being targeted due to their higher ground clearance, which allows thieves to retrieve the converters by using a cordless saw.
Local residents who see an individual carrying a cordless saw or a catalytic converter should immediately call 911.
