UPDATED: Best "Warm Up" Foods Around Lake View

Too cold to cook? Check out these recommendations for the best "warm up" restaurants and dishes across Lake View.

With Chicago breaking a cold weather record on Monday, many residents across Lake View agreed — it was too cold to cook. Luckily several Patch readers offered up  their suggestions for the best restaurant in the neighborhood to head to to warm up.

"Try the crema de chile poblano soup from Cafe el Tapatio," suggested Marissa, @Leezer09, on Twitter. "Will warm you right up!"

Soup was a popular suggestion — @jizzywinks recommended the SoupBox as a must for cold days.

"[Try] The tried and true Signature Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice with a sourdough/American/bacon grilled cheese," they Tweeted.

Sarah Beth, @bookgirlsb, said that even after she moved from the city, she still craves Schubas.

"[Try the] Chili Mac (meat OR veggie!) at Schubas!" she tweeted. "I miss it every cold day since I moved to the suburbs."

Cheryl Reimann recommended two of her favorite places on Facebook.

"Bountiful Eatery, totally tasty food," she wrote. "My favorite place in the neighborhood. Eat at Ed's."

Stella's Diner, 3042 N. Broadway, was also a popular suggestion, especially on Facebook.

"Stella's, because its so close and they have good food, especially the turkey dinner," Nonny Mousse said on Facebook. "I swear they give you so much you can take half home ... it tastes to da** good warmed up in the microwave the next day."

Fernando, @EmilioEmm, had two great suggestions.

"Dinner from Cozy Noodle and Rice or coffee and a slice of pie from Pick Me Up Cafe!" he suggested.

Matt Monnin, @mattmonnin, told Patch on Twitter that he heads to DMK Burger Bar when the weather gets cold.

"[The] fried pickles and okra at DMK Burger Bar is always a winner!" he tweeted.
