Bonus Round Board Game Cafe Opens In Lake View

CHICAGO, IL — After a successful crowdfunding campaign, Bonus Round Game Cafe held its grand opening in Lake View Friday afternoon. The cafe will serve food, coffee, beer and wine, and offer games like Raiders of the North Sea and Settlers of Catan. The cafe opened at 3230 N. Clark St.

"Three months of hard work and we’re open for business and ready to introduce people to the world of board games," cafe co-owners Courtney Hartley and Drew Lovell posted on their Facebook page. "Come in and we’ll find a game for you while serving up some delicious coffee & sandwiches!"

The pair is hoping to draw new board gamers and offer the neighborhood a place where people can interact without a louder bar scene drowning conversation.

"We love board games and believe in their power to bring people together and want to share that with as many people as possible! We strive to create a welcome environment for those not familiar to board games and to those who seek them out," Hartley and Lovell posted on the cafe's website. "Bonus Round Game Café will be a place where guests won't feel judged for their lack of knowledge or skills, instead they come to our café for a little fun and encouragement."
