Cheesie's, Bar Pastoral Makes Zagat List of Top Grilled Cheese in the U.S.

Lake View residents have access to some of the best grilled cheese in the United States--at least according to the Zagat Guide.

Sandwiches from Cheesie's Pub & Grub, 958 Belmont Ave., made Zagat's recent list of the 30 best grilled cheese sandwiches in the United States. Zagat writers noted Cheesie's use of Texas toast, and highlighted "The Popper," which features cheddar cheese, cream cheese, cheddar cheese sauce, jalapeno peppers and bacon on sourdough bread.

Bar Pastoral in Lake View also made the cut, with Zagat recommending the wine bar's cow and raw sheep's cheese sandwich — served with raisin chutney and apples on sourdough bread. 

Cheesie's has another location in Evanston, and also operates a food truck.  The Fat Shallot food truck was the only other Chicago eatery to make the list.
