Chicago Cubs Help Out Little Fan After His Foul Ball Is Swiped

The Cubs made sure a young fan didn't leave empty-handed, after a ball that was intended for him was taken by a man.

CHICAGO, IL — The Cubs made sure a young fan didn't leave their Sunday game feeling down after he missed a catch. During the game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Cubs first base coach Will Venable tossed a foul ball to a boy in the front row. The young fan missed the catch, and a man grabbed the ball and gave it to the woman sitting next to him.

The boy looked disheartened, but the Cubs took notice and gave him an even better prize — a baseball signed by Javier Baez.

“A @javy23baez signed ball should take care of it,” the team tweeted.

A video of the man taking the ball circulated on Twitter, with the comment "DON'T be this guy"; however, NBC Sports Chicago host David Kaplan said the man had already helped the boy get a ball earlier in the game.

"The young man has a game used ball and a Javy Baez ball. All is well. Guy is A-OK so let it go people," Kaplan tweeted.
