Cold Weather Leads to Lack of Groceries on Store Shelves

Jewel-Osco apologized to shoppers for the lack of products on the store's shelves.

Last week's record cold temperatures have led to some bare shelves at local grocery stores.

Jewel-Osco at 3531 N. Broadway issued a statement this week apologizing to customers who may have had issues finding products at the store.

"Because of extreme weather conditions this week and trucks not being able to get to us, we understand that we have been out of some items that you've made the trip to your neighborhood store for," a statement posted at registers at the store said. "With these many uncontrollable circumstances, there has been product availability shortage to our stores and for that, we are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Customers looking for a specific item are encouraged to give the store their name and phone number to be contacted when the product becomes available.
