Coronavirus Closes 4th Chicago-Area School
Two more schools cancelled classes after a community member came into contact with a patient diagnosed with coronavirus.
CHICAGO, IL — Two more Chicago-area school closed its doors due to coronavirus fears Tuesday. Bernard Zell school, a Jewish day school in Lakeview, cancelled classes Tuesday after a parent was exposed to COVID-19, as did Resurrection High School on the city's Northwest side.
In a letter to parents, Zell school said the parent was "recently exposed to COVID-19 and is currently undergoing testing to determine if they have contracted the virus," according to WGN.

The school posted a note on its website saying, "To ensure the health and safety of our community, Bernard Zell will not be open Tuesday, March 10."

The parent is reportedly self-quarantined.
Also on Tuesday, Resurrection College Prep High School sent an email to families saying a member of the school community was in contact with a person who was diagnosed with COVID-19.
"Out of an abundance of caution," the school said students would be dismissed at 10 a.m. Tuesday and school would be cancelled on Wednesday so a deep cleaning of the campus could be completed.
The school gave parents time to arrange for transportation, but said no students would be allowed to remain on campus after noon Tuesday.
Two other schools in the Chicago area are also closed due to the virus.
Loyola Academy in Wilmette will be closed for a second day after a student and that student's family came into contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.
Vaughn Occupational High School in Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood will be closed until March 18 after a special education assistant who recently returned from a Grand Princess cruise tested positive for the illness.

- Cases 1 and 2: A Chicago couple in their 60s; since recovered
- Cases 3 and 4: A suburban Cook County couple in their 70s; in home isolation
- Case 5: Man in his 20s who traveled to Italy; released from hospital and in home isolation
- Case 6: Chicago woman in her 50s who was on a Grand Princess cruise; hospitalized in isolation in stable condition
- Case 7: A Chicago man in his 70s who is believed to be the first case of community exposure; he is in serious condition
- Cases 8 and 9: Two women — one in her 50s and one in her 70s — who are related to the 6th patient; they are in good condition
- Case 10: A California woman currently Illinois; she is in good condition
- Case 11: A woman in her 70s who recently returned from an Egyptian cruise; she is in good condition
Nationwide numbers: 755 cases in 34 states and Washington, D.C.; 24 deaths (22 in Washington state, 2 in Florida)
