CPD Bomb Unit Called To Investigate Package In Lake View

CHICAGO — Police and fire crews were called to a post office in the Lake View neighborhood Wednesday to investigate a suspicious package.

The CPD Bomb and Arson Unit arrived on scene in the 1300 block of West Irving Park Road just before 9:30 a.m., authorities said.

A woman had dropped off a flat envelope with the note "notify the FBI" on the post office's counter, and then walked out, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

The Chicago Fire Department was also called to the scene to investigate possible hazardous materials, and secured the area as of 12:30 p.m.

No further details about the incident were released. No injuries or further possible threats were reported.
