Cubs Pitcher Jon Lester Replaced On All-Star Game Roster

He will be replaced by Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zach Greinke, MLB announced.

CHICAGO, IL — Cubs pitcher Jon Lester won't pitch in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game Tuesday, Major League Baseball announced Thursday. He has been replaced by Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke on the National League roster, MLB said. Lester is pitching on Sunday against the San Diego Padres, and therefore was replaced on the roster.

Lester has an 11-2 record and 2.45 ERA this season, with 81 strikeouts compared to 38 walks.

Cubs' Javier Baez and Wilson Contreras are set to start for the National Legue when they go up against the American League on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. Cubs' Kyle Schwarber will join Baez in the Home Run Derby on Monday night.
