Driver In Custody After Two North Side Crashes: Police

The accidents caused major delays along Lake Shore Drive during the Thursday morning commute.

CHICAGO, IL — A person is in custody after two crashes on Chicago's North Side Thursday morning. One of the crashes involved a wrong-way driver, police said. The accidents caused major delays along Lake Shore Drive.

The offender's car hit the wrong-way driver's vehicle on Lake Shore Drive in Uptown, police said. The offender immediately drove off south without stopping, according to police.

The victim of the hit-and-run crash wasn't hurt, police said.

The offender then got into a two-vehicle crash just past Montrose Avenue around 8 a.m., police said.

Injuries were reported, and three vehicles were towed off Lake Shore Drive, according to a report by ABC 7. A black Mercedes sedan, a silver Toyota and a white Nissan were towed off Lake Shore at Montrose, according to the report.

Police didn't release information about how many people were injured or the nature of the injuries.

The hit-and-run driver was taken into custody, police said.
