Cubs Charities pitched in and helped a local school create new spaces for students to play and learn.

CHICAGO — An elementary school on Chicago's North Side celebrated the completion of a resurfaced field and renovated library Thursday. James G. Blaine Elementary School received a $150,000 grant from Cubs Charities for the renovations.

A ribbon-cutting was held Thursday morning with students, teachers, Clark the Cub and Ald. Tom Tunney (44th).

"The updated field will allow thousands of youth to play diamond sports on a safe, durable and quality surface, as well as serve as a space for the neighborhood to enjoy," Cubs Charities said in a statement.
