Flash Flood Warning Issued for Lake View

A rainfall of one to two inches per hour is estimated for the area. The warning remains in effect until 3:30 p.m.

'Tis the season...for umbrellas and rainboots.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Chicago, as well as for the rest of Cook and Dupage County, as well as eastern Kendall, northern Will, southern Kane and southern Lake counties. The warning will remain in effect until 3:30 p.m.

The warning says that the National Weather Service's Doppler Radar indicated that heavy rain producing thunderstorms would move through the area in the early afternoon. The rainfall is estimated to produce one to two inches of rain per hour, with likely flash floods in some locations.

Urban areas, as well as streets, underpasses, drainage areas and low-lying spots will see excessive runoff from the rain.

The National Weather Service warns to not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway, as the water depth may be too high for your car to drive safely.
