Gallagher Way Announces Spring, Summer 2019 Programming

CHICAGO — Gallagher Way has launched its spring and summer programming schedule, which includes new and enhanced programs, movies, a fitness series, live music and an open-air market. Throughout 2019, Gallagher Way will play host to more than 200 events and programs available for all ages.

The spring and summer program schedule includes the return of Music Box Theatre Movies at Gallagher Way, Orangetheory Fitness classes, Sundown Sessions and Wiggleworms, hosted by the Old Town School of Folk Music.

New programming this year features the Made in Chicago Indie Film Series and the French Market at Gallagher Way. New family-focused events include The Rock and Roll Playhouse, the Get Growing Foundation and Emerald City Theatre.

Programs:

WIGGLEWORMS
The Old Town School of Folk Music will host 45-minute morning music programs each Tuesday from May 7 through Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. The Wiggleworms early childhood music program welcomes young children and their families to participate in an interactive, social and imaginative musical world with live music, shakers, bubbles, singing and dancing. Following the music program, Gallagher Way will invite families to stay for children’s movie screenings beginning at 11 a.m. Guests are encouraged to stop by West Town Bakery & Tap for cakeballs and coffee before or after the performances.

FITNESS SERIES
Kicking off May 13 and running through September 26, Gallagher Way will offer free outdoor fitness classes for the community.

• Orangetheory Fitness every Monday and Wednesday
• Yoga every Tuesday and Thursday
• Social Run Club on select Tuesday evenings – May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13 and September 10

Yoga and Orangetheory Fitness classes start at 7 a.m. and Run Club begins at 6:30 p.m.

MUSIC BOX THEATRE MOVIES
Lakeview’s historic Music Box Theatre will host 10 free sundown movies at Gallagher Way beginning at 7:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase at each showing, including Smoke Daddy’s food truck and fresh popcorn. Guests are welcome to bring food from surrounding Gallagher Way restaurants as well. Limited reserved seating will be available for $20, which includes a premium seat assignment, beverage of choice, snacks, dedicated server and private access to enter Gallagher Way. Reserved seating will be available online starting at the end of April or on-site before the start of each movie. Space is limited. Guests are encouraged to arrive early.

MORE FAMILY-FOCUSED EVENTS
Starting May 19, Gallagher Way will offer fun activities for the whole family on select Sundays. Events include the following:

• Get Growing Foundation: Flower potting parties, garden educational seminars, tasting fresh and local produce.
• Rock and Roll Playhouse: Family-friendly concerts performed by the Rock and Roll Playhouse band, featuring movements, stories and an opportunity for adults and kids to rock out to the most iconic musicians in rock history including The Beatles, Grateful Dead and more.
• Children’s Theatre: Kid-friendly creative play with Chicago’s-own, Emerald City Theatre.

MADE IN CHICAGO INDIE FILM SERIES
In partnership with Chicago-based nonprofit, Full Spectrum Features, Gallagher Way will host four free indie film screening events featuring producers, writers, directors and actors with ties to Chicago, select Monday evenings starting at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Each screening will feature up-and-coming local Chicago minority filmmakers and will highlight themes not typically seen on the big screen.

FRENCH MARKET
New this year, Gallagher Way will host a French Market on Thursday evenings from July 11 through Sept. 26 starting at 5 p.m. The European-inspired market will include more than 25 vendors featuring a mixture of food, crafts, flowers and artisanal goods. Each Thursday, there will be a chef demo, live music and beer and wine pairings.

SUNDOWN SESSIONS
Gallagher Way will once again host free Sundown Sessions for families, guests and music enthusiasts. The blues series is in partnership with Buddy Guy’s Legends Chicago and the classical series is in partnership with the International Music Foundation. Visitors can enjoy classical music select Tuesday evenings starting May 28 and blues music after Saturday Cubs games starting June 22 at 6 p.m.

As part of the classical series and Make Music Chicago, the International Music Foundation will host their annual Sousapalooza event at Gallagher Way Friday, June 21.

BUDWEISER CONCERT SERIES

UNIQUE COMMUNITY AND SPORTING EVENTS
Throughout the summer, Gallagher Way will host popular sporting viewing events, concerts and additional public events. The full list of events will be announced soon.

Remembering Our Fallen:
Remembering Our Fallen is a photographic war memorial honoring U.S. military who have fallen from the war on terror. The memorial includes 31 tribute towers with military and personal photos of more than 5,000 fallen soldiers since 9/11. The four-day tribute takes place April 28 through May 1.

Chicago Friday Night Flights:
Chicago Friday Night Flights will start its third season at Gallagher Way Friday, May 31, from 6-9 p.m. CDT. The evening will feature local food and 30 breweries from neighborhoods across the city. Friday Night Flights’ resident DJ will spin records throughout the night and the Cardinals vs. Cubs game will be shown on the Gallagher Way video board. Guests also are invited to check out the official Friday Night Flights after party at Lucky Dorr Patio & Tap.
