Great Horned Owl Goes Swimming in Lake Michigan: Video

A great horned owl amazed onlookers this week by going for a swim in Lake Michigan near Loyola Park Beach. Photographer and avid birder Steve Spitzer, of Rogers Park, caught the scene Sunday on video. The owl had been dive-bombed by peregrine falcons, Spitzer said on Facebook. And had he known the video of the swimming owl would capture people’s attention, he would have shot more than 8 seconds.
