Howard Brown Youth Center Eliminates Six Positions
Eliminated positions at the LGBTQ health center include the Associate Director of the Broadway Youth Center and the Vice President of Finance.

The Howard Brown Health Center, one of the largest LBGTQ-centered healthcare providers in the country, has eliminated six full-time positions, according to an article by the Chicago Phoenix. The company is undergoing an internal restructuring to meet requirements set by the Affordable Care Act, with a strategic plan passed by the Howard Brown Health Center Board of Directors in August of 2013. Cut positions include the Vice President of Finance, the Vice President of Shared Services, the Broadway Youth Center Associate Director and three others, including two in financial development.
"This plan includes four pillars that center on being a high quality provider of primary care with patient-centric wrap-around support services," interim President Karma Israelsen said in an email to staffers, according the Phoenix. "The attainment of this goal is critical for our organization and requires that we strategically reinvest resources, time and talent in the pursuit of the goals outlined in the strategic plan."
The Howard Brown Health Center also runs the Broadway Youth Center, which has been a cause of debate for Lake View residents, and the newly opened Aris Health.
