"Huge" Changes Coming to Hydrate

The Boystown club temporarily closed on Jan. 5 while it undergoes some huge renovations.

Major changes are coming to Hydrate, according to owner Mark Liberson.

The popular Boystown club, located at 3458 N. Halsted St., closed its doors on Jan. 5 for extensive reconstruction.

"Its going to be pretty huge," Liberson said of the changes. "We're very excited about it. Hydrate's been around for over a decade, so it was time to bring it to a new level."

The club will be redone entirely, with a new exterior, a different layout, upgrade bathrooms, new tiles, revamped bars, a new sound system and even three chandeliers from the Ambassador West Hotel's ballroom.

"You want to keep the space fresh and new, a place that you can always be proud of," Liberson said. "When you're open as many times a year as we are, the place starts to wear out. Its time to upgrade and bring something new to the street...we want to keep it current and offer people who havent' been to Hydrate something new to enjoy and people who have been something new to appreciate."

After they reopen, Hydrate will focus on making sure the club is as fun early in the evening as it is late at night, as the business regularly hosts charity events in the evenings.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone when we re-open," Liberson said. "We look forward to seeing familiar faces and new faces, and we thank everyone in the community for a great 10 plus years."

No official re-open date is set for Hydrate.
