Lessons & Carols

Christmas carols, readings, and reflections at Loyola University Chicago, featuring multiple student choirs

Lessons and Carols
DEC 5 | Sat. 7:30 PM | Madonna della Strada

Join us for this Christmas tradition, Lessons and Carols, a liturgy of song in which nine lessons are told, recounting Scripture. Based on an order drawn up by the Bishop of Truro in Cornwall, England in 1880, Lessons and Carols tells the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus. Readings taken from Genesis, the prophetic books, and the Gospels, are interspersed with Christmas carols, hymns, and choir music. Performing groups include Loyola’s Schola Cantorum, Women’s Chorus, University Chorale, and Chamber Choir.

Tickets are $10, and can be purchased here. For more information, please visit our Arts Alive blog.
