Local Daycare Fails Food Inspection
Patch combed through food inspection reports of local restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. The results are available here.

Results: Fail
Comments: The front food service area wasn't protected against public contamination; there was no evidence that outer openings were rodent or insect proofed (all doors and windows must be tight fitting across the bottom). Noticeable openings around the hood duct must be sealed; the restroom was not self closing; two large ovens in the kitchen must be under ventilation. Please note The Popcorn Asylum was not open for business at the time of the inspection.
Blaze Pizza, 953 W. Belmont Ave.

Comments: The east entrance to the food prep area must be protected against public contamination; splashguards must be provided at exposed handsinks; unnecessary articles must be removed from the building. Please note that Blaze Pizza was not open for business at the time of the inspection.

Results: Fail
Comments: A City of Chicago sanitation certificate or proof of enrollment must be displayed; Found no soap or paper towels at sink in the restroom; The outer openings are not rodent or insect proofed — a 1/4 gap was found at the bottom of doors. There were no refrigerators on the premises, and thermometers are required in the freezer. Exposed brick must be sealed; there must be a barrier to the kitchen to protect against public contamination. Note: The Day Care was not open for business at the time of the inspection.
