Man Electrocuted, Falls 3 Stories in Lake View

The man fell three stories from scaffolding when either he or the steel structure touched the power lines dangling nearby.

A man is in critical condition after being electrocuted when a transformer blew, throwing him off three stories of scaffolding in Lake View, ABC 7 reports.

The Chicago Fire Department says the 24-year-old man was working on a building on the 700 block of West Oakdale Avenue near Clark Street when a transformer blew, CLTV writes. The scaffolding was erected in with the power lines dangling against the building.

The man, who has not been identified, was having trouble breathing and was sent to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with burns to his body and head trauma, according to ABC. He was doing tuck-pointing work when either he or the steel scaffolding touched a 12 kilowatt electrical wire.
