Merryman Park Officially Open after $500K Makeover (PHOTOS)

Organizers held an official ribbon cutting ceremony Friday to celebrate the grand opening of new and improved park in Lake View.

Renovations at Merryman Playlot Park in Lake View are officially completed after neighborhood organizers worked to inject close to $500,000 in the park's makeover.

The Merryman Park Advisory Council held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3736 N. Marshfield Ave. on Friday morning to celebrate the grand opening. 

After the Chicago Parks District identified Merryman needed upgrades, the council helped to fundraise while simultaneously securing an additional $50,000 from the State of Illinois, and $100,000 from former 47th Ward Alderman Gene Schulter.

In total, the completed park was anticipated to cost upwards of $450,000.
