Metra Construction Closes Irving Park at Ravenswood Today
As part of the ongoing upgrade to the rail system, residents will need to take an alternate route.
Drivers have been seeing lane restrictions on roads near Ravenswood Avenue for months, but one street will be completely shut down around the area.
Irving Park Road will have a full closure at Ravenswood, according to an announcement from Ward 47 Ald. Ameya Pawar's office.
Crews will block the street all day Thursday for bridgework on the new Metra tracks. Lane restrictions at the intersections continue through Aug. 30.

Construction on the rail system broke ground in September. The project, which is slated to finish in 2019, will replace 11 bridges, install a new track and a station at Ravenswood and Lawrence avenues for $225 million.
