New Cubs Ace Jon Lester Buys Home Near Wrigley

Pitcher spent just under $3.8 million for amenity-laced home near work.

If new Chicago Cubs ace pitcher Jon Lester is going to lead the team to its first World Series title in 107 years come October, he will be doing it as a Chicagoan - albeit for seven months.

That’s because Lester, who signed a 6-year, $155 million deal with the Cubs in the off-season, spent nearly $3.8 million on a five-bedroom home in Graceland West - slightly less than a mile away from Wrigley Field, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.

With five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms and 7,000 total square feet, the house also features a bar, wine cellar, elevator, mud room and four-car garage. Sold for $3.32 million in 2009, the home has been renovated extensively, according to seller Pamela Stamataky. The deal closed March 5.
