Dr. Taylor Rehabilitation and Wellness Center has been based in Chicago’s bustling Portage Park neighborhood since 2003. Its founder, Dr. Michael Taylor, DC, prides himself on utilizing the latest in laser therapy treatments, and other holistic methods to treat both acute, and chronic pain.

“Since I stated this practice, one of my overarching goals has always been to seek out new and developing treatment methods as soon as they are available,” said Dr. Taylor.

The most recent addition to his arsenal of pain relief methods is the Advanced Multi-Wave Lock System (MLS) Laser Therapy. This therapy uses a laser to treat pain and inflammation, which speeds up the time it takes to heal, without the need for surgery or medication.

Patients with acute pain will normally go through six treatments and receive substantial pain relief, while those with chronic pain report positive results after 12 treatments.

Part of the lure for Dr. Taylor in using this treatment method - which only a few chiropractors across the Chicagoland area are incorporating into their practices - is for its use of light for the purposes of healing.

“There are lasers all around us in nature, with different wavelengths of light. When you have a plant inside and you put it on a counter with no light, it will wither away. When you put it outside in the light, it opens up and begins to bloom,” Dr. Taylor said.

The same can be said for the laser therapy’s impact on acute or chronic pain in human beings; the light naturally encourages health and healing, Dr. Taylor said.

Dr. Taylor refers to professional athletes use of laser therapy to get back on the field and pain-free after injuries.

“Everyday people can think of their own lives in this way; that they have the option to ‘get back on the field’ and resume normal activities quicker, and without prescriptions or surgery,” he said.
