The Park At Wrigley Gets A New Name
The popular pre- and postgame hangout spot has been named after a company.

CHICAGO, IL — The popular, grassy plaza next to Wrigley Field has been renamed. The Cubs have signed a naming-rights agreement with an Illinois-based insurance brokerage and risk management company. The Park at Wrigley has been renamed Gallagher Way.
The new name is displayed on Cubs-blue pylons outside the plaza and the video board above the space. Gallagher insurance features will run on the outfield video board during select broadcasts, the Cubs said.
Gallagher, based in suburban Rolling Meadows, was founded in Chicago in 1927, and has locations in 33 countries.

The Cubs said they were always transparent about their intention to strike a naming rights deal for The Park at Wrigley. The team acknowledged that it will take some time for fans to adjust.
Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) and Aon Center are also named after insurance companies, and many people continue to express frustration that iconic landmarks are being purchased.
