Police: Two Men Charged in Robbery and Beating of Lake View Woman

LAKE VIEW, IL — Two men have been charged in the robbery and beating of a 23-year-old woman earlier this week in Lake View, Chicago police said.

Steven Thompson, 26, of Joliet, and Sadarian Washington, 23, of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago, were charged with robbing the woman at about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday night in the 800 block of West Buckingham Place.

Thompson battered the woman while Washington forcefully grabbed her purse, police said.

When officers were arresting Washington, he became combative and damaged a police vehicle. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment of a cut hand, police said.

Washington has been charged with one felony count of robbery, one felony count of aggravated battery to an officer, and one felony count of criminal damage to property. Thomson was charged with one felony count of robbery.
