Robbers Posing As Ride-Share Drivers On North Side

Police are again warning the public that fake ride-share drivers are stealing from unsuspecting passengers.

CHICAGO — Robbers have been posing as ride-share drivers on Chicago's North Side throughout the fall, according to a police alert. Women have been pulling up to victims and pretending to be their ride-share drivers, then robbing them once they get inside the vehicles, according to the alert. Police are searching for two or three suspects.

The robberies occurred in the:

  • 2300 block of North Ashland Ave., Friday, Aug. 31, in the morning hours.
  • 400 block of North Wells St., Sunday, Sept. 16, in the morning hours.
  • 700 block of North Wells St., Friday, Sept 21, in the morning hours.
  • 300 block of West Locust St., Saturday, Sept. 27, in the morning hours.
  • 600 block of West Grand Ave., Monday, Sept. 29, in the morning hours.
  • 700 block of North Wells St., Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the morning hours.
  • 100 W. Kinzie St., Sunday, Oct. 21 in the morning hours.
  • 1100 block of North Clark Street, Thursday, Nov. 15, in the morning hours.
  • 600 block of North Dearborn Street, Saturday, Nov. 24, in the early morning hours.

Fake ride-share drivers also targeted victims in the River North and Lincoln Park neighborhoods throughout the summer.
