Southport Celebrates the Holidays

The Last Speakeasy: Celebrate the 80th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition with the Chicago History Museum this Wed. evening. Costumes are strongly encouraged, and jazz band, prohibition-era storytelling and drinks will be included. Wed. Dec. 4, 6:30-10:00 p.m., Chicago History Museum, $45/$35 for members. 

Star of The Room Presents Book: Greg Sestero, the star of "bad movie" cult favorite The Room will be telling his side of the story on Tues., as he reads from his new book, The Disaster Artist. The book is the true account of how the "Citizen Kane of bad movies was made. Tues. Dec. 3. 7 p.m. Music Box Theatre. $20 for the event, $45 for the event and book. 
Winter FUNderland: Do you love the holidays or despise the whole season? No matter where you stand, you'll enjoy this holiday iO show, featuring improv, sketch, songs, interactive games and magic. Thurs. Dec. 5, 10:30 p.m., iO Theatre, $5/Free for iO students. 
Southport Holiday Stroll: Join local Southport businesses for this annual event, featuring horse-drawn sleigh rides, vintage Carolers, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, plus plenty of discounts and offers. Fri. Dec. 6, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Southport Ave. FREE.
