Tech Entrepreneur Buys Trump Tower Penthouse: Chicago's Most Expensive Dwelling
Life on the 89th floor: South Barrington's Sanjay Shah negotiated for two years and closed this week for $17 million.

This is what life on the 89th floor of the Trump Tower looks like. It’ll look even better when Sanjay Shah of South Barrington moves into his 14,260-square-foot penthouse, decorates and adds furniture. The 46-year-old CEO of Vistex, a tech company, bought the place this week for $17 million. Cash. This is the largest sum ever paid in Chicago for a residence, although the original asking price in 2011 was $32 million. Donald Trump intended to live here after the Trump Tower was built (it’s got 16-foot ceilings so his hairdo would fit), but he decided to put it on the market instead. It’s been vacant for three years, and Shah told the Tribune he’s been negotiating his purchase price for two years. This will be Sanjay Shah’s fourth residence.
