Three Lake View Restaurants Fail Food Inspections
Patch combed through food inspection reports of local restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. The results are available here.

Patch examined some of this November's food inspection reports from Lake View, and found that eight restaurants in the neighborhood have failed inspections since Nov. 6.
The information has been collected from publicly available data published by the Chicago Department of Public Health's Food Protection Program. The data is available here.
To fail an inspection, the establishment had to have serious violations that weren't correctable during the inspection. A failed rating does not mean that the restaurant's license is automatically suspended.Fifty Four Eleven, 2850 N. Clark St. (Mobile)
Inspection Date: Nov. 12Results: Fail
Inspection Type: License Re-Inspection
Comments: The service windows weren't screened properly to prevent pest entry - there was approximately 1/4 inch openings on the sides of the installed screens. Fifty Four Eleven corrected the issue and passed a follow-up inspection on Nov. 13.

Native Foods Cafe, 1023 W. Belmont Ave.

A certified food manager must be present when "potentially hazardous foods" (soups, salads, sandwiches, etc.) are being prepared. Floors were found not swept and mopped in the basement. There was no self closing door at the employee restroom in the basement, and there was no exhaust vent at the employee restroom int he basement. Basement dry storage must be cleaned and unnecessary articles must be removed to prevent potential pest harborage. Dust accumulations of the ventilation covers must be removed.
