'Trainspotting' Author Irvine Welsh Sells Lake View Home
The famous Scottish-born author sold his North Side home for $1.3 million.

CHICAGO — Irvine Welsh, the author of "Trainspotting," and his wife Elizabeth Quinn sold their home in the Lakeview neighborhood on Thursday. The five-bedroom, 3,600-square-foot brick house on Cornelia Avenue sold for $1.3 million, according to Realtor.com.
The home, which features a library, a wet bar and a gym, was listed for $1.75 million in February. The house includes an office with a balcony, a pantry, bathrooms with custom marble and tile work, custom wainscoting and coffered ceilings.
Welsh and Quinn paid $742,500 for the home in 2010. The home is more than 100 years old, and still has some of its original stained glass, wood built-ins, moldings and original doors, according to Realtor.com.

Welsh, 59, published his novel "Trainspotting" in 1993. The successful book inspired the film, which came out in 1996. Welsh wrote a sequel, Porno, in 2002. The famous author has written dozens of novels, screenplays and short story collections.
