Troy LaRaviere Resigns as Blaine Elementary Principal
Popular Lake View leader blames Rahm Emanuel, 'politics.'

CHICAGO, IL - Troy LaRaviere, the popular but embattled principal at Blaine Elementary School in Lake View, has officially resigned.
LaRaviere made the announcement official in a blog post he published Tuesday.
The longtime Mayor Rahm Emanuel critic was removed from his post in April by Chicago Public Schools, but until Tuesday contested the move.

In the blog - a letter addressed to Emanuel - LaRaviere touted his achievements in six years as principal of the school, including his goal of movie Blaine from No. 6 to No. 1 on Chicago Magazine’s list of best neighborhood schools.

He did say that effort was made more difficult by “politics,” which he has said is the reason for the district wanting him out since his departure was announced months ago.
“Nobody in our great city is more responsible for that political obstruction than you.,” he wrote the mayor.
