UPDATED: "Twisted Circus" Halloween Parade Details Set

This year's Northalsted Halloween Parade is "Twisted Circus" themed. Parking details are now available for Thurs. evening.

Whether you've always dreamed of joining the circus or just like watching it, it's time to start getting ready for next week's Northalsted "Twisted Circus" themed Halloween Parade.

This year's event — now in its 17th year — is sponsored by the Northalsted Business Alliance and Triangle Neighbors. This year's event kicks off at 8 p.m. and will travel north through Boystown to Addison. Registration is free will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Halsted and Belmont.

Parking will be prohibited from 3 p.m. until midnight on Thurs. from Halsted between Belmont and Addison (3200 N to 3600 N) and on Roscoe between 800 W. and 824 W. All vehicles left on the streets will be ticketed and towed. 

Also note that Halsted from Belmont to Addison will be closed to traffic from 4 p.m. until midnight, and Melrose, Aldine, Buckingham, Roscoe, Newport, Cornelia and Brompton (east adn west from Halsted to each alley) will be closed to traffic from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. 

This year's parade route will be filled with circus sideshows, ranging from aerialists to fire-eaters. Costume contest finalists and winners will be selected before the parade. Winners in each category will be invited to ride a float through the parade route. 

This year's costume contest categories include:

  • Drag
  • Group
  • Original
  • Scariest
  • Pet
Winners will receive a prize package worth over $2,000. 

Northalsted will also again be throwing the Space Park Spooktacular for children. On Oct. 27 families are invited to Space Park at 815 W. Roscoe St. from noon to 3 p.m. for games, activities and treats.
