CHICAGO, IL — Gender reveal parties have been known to go terribly wrong, but a recent one held by Cubs' fans outside Wrigley Field literally blew up on the ground. The family chose the popular "hit a ball with pink or blue powder" gender reveal, but it didn't go as planned. The poor fellow tasked with batting the ball not only struck out, but fumbled the ball with his hand in a desperate attempt to save the reveal from the inevitable.
The woman, holding a little Cubs fan in her arms, threw the ball too high, and the man was forced to either catch the ball or attempt to hit it far above his head.
It turns out the man did a bit of both, and quickly fumbled the ball with his hand before trying to hit it. The ball smashed on the ground, with blue powder spraying all over the sidewalk.

A passerby apparently caught the reveal-gone-wrong and posted it on Twitter:
Was walking to Wrigley and saw a gender reveal happening, so glad I stopped to film it pic.twitter.com/KjepDjFNre
