Woman Being Tested for Zika Virus in Chicago
There are 3 confirmed cases of the mosquito-borne virus in Illinois. This would be the first in the city.

A case of the contagious Zika virus may have reached Chicago, according to a local doctor. Presence St. Joseph in Lake View confirmed a woman is being tested.
Dr. Mitchell Weinstein, chief of infectious diseases at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Lake View on Chicago’s North Side, told NBC Chicago she is undergoing tests after returning from a Zika-infested area in Central America. She’s suffering from fevers and chills. Weinstein told DNAinfo Chicago she has a “50/50 chance” of having the Zika virus.
The World Health Organization declared the mosquito-borne virus a public health emergency this week.
As of today, two pregnant women and one man have been diagnosed with Zika in Illinois.
This week, a Texas case of Zika was confirmed to have been transmitted through sexual contact in someone who had not traveled, according to the CDC.
