Woman Haranguing Michaels Clerk in Viral YouTube Video Was Reportedly Attacked

A Chicago woman whose racially fueled tirade made waves on social media has allegedly been battered in Wrigleyville.

A Chicago woman who was videotaped berating employees at two different North Side businesses last month has reportedly been attacked in Wrigleyville.

Ramiz Bajwa, 29, was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 20 and charged with misdemeanor battery in connection with an incident in the 800 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to Cook County Court documents.

The records confirm that the victim was the woman featured in multiple YouTube videos last month verbally attacking employees at a Michaels store and a Peets Coffee, both in Lakeview. Police reports included in the case documents allege that Bajwa physically pushed the victim with his hands as the two entered the West Cornelia Avenue building, calling her a “racist a** b**** w**re.”

The woman called the police and positively identified Bajwa when officers arrived, the report says. Bajwa had 63 cents in his pocket when he was placed in custody. He also faces felony charges from a separate marijuana-related incident on Nov. 16, court records show. Bajwa was accused that day of manufacturing and delivering between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis in Chicago's 23rd Police District.

Police declined to confirm Thursday whether the reported battery was connected to either of two videotaped diatribes spotlighting the alleged victim, whose identity has been widely circulated on social media. The former human resources employee's racially fueled tirades at Peet's and Michaels crafts went viral in November.

Entitled “Racist White Woman Trump Rant in Chicago Store,” footage of the craft store harangue has snared more than 4.5 million views since Thanksgiving Eve. In it, the offer of a $1 reusable bag sparked the woman's eruption to proclaim her crusade for Donald Trump and accuse the store's Black employees of discriminating against her.

Warning: Graphic language and profanity

The targeted craft store employee has since received many gifts. One woman who was present for the incident went so far as to establish a GoFundMe campaign to make her holiday a little brighter.

As of Thursday, the fundraising effort had raised more than $32,000. Its initial goal was pegged at $400.
