American Sale Store Coming to LZ

Village attracts large retail store to South Rand Road.

American Sale is opening a new store in Lake Zurich, which continues do well despite a still recovering national economy.

“Lake Zurich area shoppers have a huge selection of retail opportunities throughout the Village and especially along the heavily traveled Rand Road business corridor,” Village President Tom Poynton said in a press release. “Our low retail vacancy rate shows the health and vitality that is evident in this Village and is proof that Lake Zurich is a fantastic place to do business.”

American Sale plans to open in the spring of 2014 at 748 S. Rand Road, the former Bay Furniture store. The 38,920 square foot space has been vacant since 2008. It will create dozens of jobs for the area, according to a press release.

Overall, Lake Zurich’s vacancy rate is lower than both the Chicago area and national averages, officials said. The most recent retail vacancy report for the second quarter of 2012, the village’s vacancy rate was 9.37 percent compared to the Chicago area average of 10.4 percent and the national average of 10.5 percent.

Lake Zurich continues to offer important characteristics that businesses are looking for, including access to a relatively wealthy consumer market, highly educated labor pool, and amenities of the Chicago metro area without the burden of Cook County taxes, officials said.
