Confirmed: Lake Zurich school administrators investigating football team hazing

School district officials have been vague in describing the incident

An email from Lake Zurich School District Superintendent Kaine Osburn on November 2 stated that administrators were completing an investigation into an incident of hazing involving the varsity football team, according to documents obtained by the Daily Herald.

The incident had been previously described as inappropriate activity, but players and their parents had to commit to hazing prevention training earlier this month.

The Daily Herald obtained more than 25 emails from the school district through a Freedom of Information Act request.

An email from Lake Zurich High School student assistance program coordinator Barbara Belke describes the school to be "in crisis." Belke was inquiring about online hazing training in her correspondence.

Other emails express support for head coach David Proffitt, and at least one criticized the administration on the handling of the incident.
