Ela Coalition Against Youth Substance Rallies Community
Coalition teams up with National Guard for open house.

A 2012 Illinois Youth Survey showed 38 percent of high school freshmen used alcohol within the previous year.
The figures go steadily up, increasing to 71 percent for seniors.
The Ela Coalition Against Youth Substance Abuse is trying to raise awareness among teens and families about the alarming statistics and provide support.

These events focus on promoting problem solving, leadership, and good decision-making skills for drug-free living. In addition, the open house will feature a police Humvee and patrol cars.Â
Various local businesses and organizations will also be on hand to share news and information with attendees regarding the various resources and programs available in our community that support our youth.Â
This event reinforces the Ela Coalition’s mission to reduce the underage drinking and substance use in our community and to prevent drug use before it starts. Food and beverages will also be available.
