Lake Zurich Assisted Living Resident Dies As Coronavirus Spreads
Public health officials previously announced cases of the coronavirus at facilities in Lincolnshire and Lake Zurich.
LAKE ZURICH, IL — A resident of the Cedar Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care in Lake Zurich died Friday. According to WGN, it's unknown whether the woman had tested positive for the coronavirus, after employees at the facility said the first positive case of the coronavirus was confirmed Monday. The news report added that according to the employees, more residents have since tested positive.
The last public update from the facility was on March 19.
The Lake County Health department has identified 20 cases at five long-term care facilities in the county.

Lake County Health Department Executive Director Mark Pfister said the increase in cases at facilities housing groups of seniors was "deeply disturbing."

Two Lake County residents died at local hospitals this week from complications from coronavirus, officials said Friday. The Lake County Health Department announced it had identified 38 new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, bringing the total number of Lake County residents to test positive for the disease to 222 as of Friday afternoon.
