Lake Zurich Flames Now in NWYFL League

Football registration now open; Flames add board members

The Lake Zurich Flames Football program has moved to a new league, Northwest Youth Football League NWYFL (www.NWYFL.org).

“We made the move after a long off season process of reviewing our current league affiliation and researching and interviewing the other options in the area. The current board felt this was the best fit for our players and families at the current time,” said Keith Mescha, Flames board member.  “We are looking forward to some new competition and a fresh experience for everyone. The biggest benefit with the smaller league is that we are now able to focus more on our own players, coaches, and parents and not have to deal with all the overhead of a larger league.”

Registration Open

The Flames registration for 2013 is open.  Register by Sunday, March 16, to be entered into a drawing to have your registration paid for. The Flames will have a booth at the LZACC Expo and interested parents can have their questions answered.

New Board Members

The Flames welcomed three new board members and a bunch of new volunteers joining the team to make the program even stronger. Jay Erkman will be running the fields committee and has been involved with the Flames as a coach and liaison for the past two years at the Bantam Level.

Eric Loch has three boys playing in the Flames and is recent transplant from Minnesota. He has been coaching for the Flames since the day he moved into Lake Zurich back in 2011. He will be working with Jay on the fields and helping out in budget and finance areas.

John Kamins is entering his second year as a Flames coach and will be leading up the safety plan for 2013 as well as helping out with coaching training and various other committees.

Others who expressed interest will be brought on as committee volunteers a new role the Flames are testing out this season to help get even more parents involved in making Flames Football & Cheer the best youth sports program in Lake Zurich.
