Lake Zurich Police: Beware of Suspicious Subjects

Lake Zurich police are investigating three reports of suspicious subjects in the Bristol Trail/Hunters Creek/Chestnut Corner subdivisions over the last several days.

In each separate incident, a man spoke to or motioned to a juvenile/juvenile near a bus stop, Deputy Chief Kevin Finlon said. Two men were in vehicles; another man was walking a small white dog. 

None of these incidents appear to be related or involve the same individual. One of the men has been identified with no unlawful activity involved in the encounter but the other two incidents remain under investigation, Finlon said.

The Lake Zurich Police Department encourages all residents to report suspicious incidents/individuals as soon as possible so that the incident may be thoroughly investigated.

The incidents serve as a reminder for all parents to speak with their children in regards to suspicious individuals and “stranger danger”.

Parents should speak with their children to reinforce the following “stranger danger” rules:

• Never approach or enter a vehicle without permission or prior approval.
• Go to a safe location if you feel scared
• Never accept gifts or candy without prior approval or permission
• Do not go anywhere with anyone for any reason without prior permission.
• Use the buddy system at all times
• If something suspicious happens, report it to parents or the school
