Lake Zurich Police: Roadside Safety Check Nets DUIs

Four people were arrested on a drunk driving charge during a roadside safety check July 6, police said.

The safety check was held at 400 Whitney Road. Those arrested include:

• Jesus L. Palacios, 52, 929 Idlewild Drive, Round Lake Beach,  was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, police said.

• Maria Delcarmen Martin-Zima, 33, 708 Crestview Drive, Ingleside, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without valid registration, police said.

• Russell J. Bennett, 54, 420 South San Pedro Street #229, Los Angeles, CA, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, police said.

• Michal Wiechec, 29, 32476 North Mackinac, Lakemoor, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, police said.

Each defendant was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Aug. 5.
